Making Everyday Life a Little Easier: Introducing Manx One

One of the biggest challenges many neurodivergent people face isn't a lack of ability - it's the sheer mental effort involved in keeping track of everyday life.

What time is the next bus?

Has the ferry been cancelled?

What's the weather doing?

What day is the bin due out?

Where can I find local events?

Individually, these are all small tasks. But when they require opening multiple websites, remembering different apps, or constantly switching between sources of information, they can quickly become overwhelming.

That's why we were pleased to discover Manx One - a free app created by a local Isle of Man developer that brings together many of the everyday services people regularly need into one simple place.

Why This Could Be Helpful

Many neurodivergent people experience challenges with executive functioning.

That can include difficulties with:

  • Planning and organisation

  • Remembering appointments and routines

  • Switching between tasks

  • Managing lots of different sources of information

  • Feeling overwhelmed by information overload

Tools that simplify everyday life aren't just convenient - they can also be accessibility tools.

Having one place to quickly check information can reduce cognitive load, save time, and make daily routines feel that little bit easier.

What Does Manx One Include?

The app currently brings together a range of useful local information, including:

  • Bus timetables

  • Ferry information

  • Flight information

  • Weather forecasts

  • Live webcams

  • Local radio

  • Local job listings

  • What's On events

  • Tide times

  • Bin collection dates, with reminders the evening before

Everything is available in one place, making it easier to find the information you need without searching across multiple websites.

Free to Use

One of the things we particularly like is its simplicity.

There are:

  • No adverts

  • No subscription

  • No sign-up required

  • No cost

It's simply a practical tool built by a local developer who wanted to make everyday life on the Isle of Man a little easier.

It's Still Growing

Manx One is still a work in progress, and the developer is actively looking for feedback and ideas from the community.

If you give it a try and think of features that would make it even more useful - particularly from an accessibility or neurodiversity perspective - we'd encourage you to let them know.

Sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

A Final Word

At Isle of Neurodiversity, we're always keen to highlight tools that may help make everyday life a little more accessible.

Accessibility isn't always about specialist equipment or expensive technology. Sometimes it's simply about reducing the number of steps between you and the information you need.

If you've tried Manx One, we'd love to hear what you think - and if there are other local accessibility tools or resources you'd like us to feature, please let us know.
